Subject: RE: Lambing disasters

Missouri
I’ve had two. First year I bought my hair sheep there was 250 head (half was 1st timers) started lambing in February and I was feeding them low quality hay because I thought that’s all they needed. I decided to start supplementing them with grain and I would feed them and they would just leave their babies to come get the grain and I had tons of orphans. Second one was when I did not get my boy lambs off in time and they bred my ewes for the middle of January and we had a terrible storm with 2 feet of snow and 30 below windchill. Lost a ton then too. Now I am very disciplined and I start lambing on May 10 every year on the green grass with warm temperatures.
