Central Iowa | When I farmed the 3 way combination of ridge till (not strip till), strips (not strip till) and cover crops were a real winner when it came to soil conservation. The three practices combined stopped wind and water erosion dead in their tracks.
In my area the conventional corn/soybean rotation is a loser (even when soybean stubble isn't fall tilled). The trend to using VT tools and high speed discs has made erosion hazards increase.
