If it was mine, I'd put in a 350 or possibly a 383, with some kind of new aftermarket fuel injection.
I have a friend that's doing a '66 pickup, he bought a built up 454 from a guy that drag races.......ended up having to modify the firewall to get it to fit. It's gonna be pretty darn cool when it's done, but I expect that he'll be in deeper than you want to be.
