Oregon | I have a 1972 Chevy in the shed and ready to get it going for the family.
A short back history…at age 15 I traded a 66 mustang project car for it. The blazer didn’t have a motor so my dad and I spruced up a small block 350. I never really did drive it, ended up doing some horse trading with dad and he drove it (I think he knew what a 16 yr old would do to it) Dad passed when I was 19 and realizing that the blazer is a classic and really straight and in good shape, I pulled the motor and ran it in a couple other trucks to thrash around the hills. The motor has since been beat to death and sitting in the shop but the Blazer is still straight, rust free and sitting in the shed waiting for me to have some cash to do something with it.
My end goal for the blazer is to redo it. Motor now, paint in a couple years, interior after that etc….get my kids involved when they’re older.
Immediate goal is to get it on the road and use it for family camping, fishing, weekend grocery getter, whatever else.
Here’s my question- what motor do you all recommend? Small block carb? LS series? What would you do?
I have about 15k total to initially get it on the road. Should just need motor and maybe tires to get it road worthy. I used to be all about these things when I was younger and dad was around but school, work, kids etc. got me outta the game for the last 20 years. | |
