S Illinois | No you need to get some economic intelligence quickly. Trade deficits aren't fiscal deficits. Stop with the stupidity. No wonder Trump has so many followers.
Edit: And neither tariffs nor trade balance will affect the fiscal deficit. No the US will never collect enough in tariffs unless we cut the federal government by 80-90%. The US doesn't import nearly enough and the rate would have to be so high that imports would basically have to be banned. And no that doest make America stronger. Mercantilism went away a couple of centuries ago but for some odd reason people want to bring it back. Hard pass unless we want to all become economically poorer all to say the US is "losing".
The fiscal defiect is only the calculation of what the government spends and what the government takes in.
