Subject: RE: Early notill beans and slugs

CNY
Good question

I had beans I no tilled early into cover crop residue last year, my neighbor said slugs would tear them up, he was right. Ended up discing up and replanting.

Another guy north of me a little is committed to no till and covers. He spread Deadline pellets 3x last year and ended up replanting some of his beans twice.

I’m interested in planting beans into strips in cover residue but just think the slugs will come out of the residue and eat the small beans. Might try a little this year but 99% of my beans are going to get a pass with the disc first because I don’t have time and can’t afford to keep replanting.

Hopefully other people will chime in with their thoughts
