Bloomington and Putnam IL | I average at least 10K WALKING steps a year round, mainly with the dog. Usually way over 20K in the summer adding in field walking, push mowing and helping mom garden. I also run 5 or 6 miles almost every morning which is not included in my step count. Running is superior cardio and changes your body in combination with diet. Legs much smaller in diameter after I started to run but muscles very defined now. Started running around 45 a few blocks at a time working up to a 5K. 60 now and in the best shape of my life. My daily run is a jog but I run as fast as I can on race day (did about 80 last year). For John, a 5K is a 3.1 mile sprint if you want to be competitive. Would recommend a cardio workup prior. |
