Keeping the tools in the case makes it easy to tell if all tools are accounted for. Some cases are too bulky to put in tool drawer. It's nice to be able to grab a case that has a full set of sockets or wrenches to do a job. Worst thing is most blow mold cases have all plastic hinges that fail easily.
