Once he passes, don't expect any good will from the family no matter how you view them now. Money speaks above all else... seen it too many times to count; even from the families you'd least expect it.

Dealing with a thing now where the heirs are jealous or spiteful of the man that had the good relationship with the deceased.
They went way out of their way to make sure he got nothing from the estate. These people put on a great show for years of being chummy.
