I realize that when a democrat makes a statement or policy decision, it's immortal. There is way too much pride to change course. However, the orange man is not one of those (and really not a republican either) and will enact policies to get a desired reaction. Do you think anyone likes tariffs? I'm certainly not convinced that they could fund the US gov't, but making statements like that and following through on setting tariffs seems to get action. It appears the US has been at a significant disadvantage in trade so it's not a bad thing to improve that situation.

It's called negotiation and diplomacy face to face. It has certainly been rare (maybe since Reagan).

But do we want a fair market between countries?
