Farmers Union Grain Terminal Association (GTA) opened in St Paul in 1938.  In 1960 GTA pruchased Honeymead soybean plant (Mankato) and ADM elevator line in southern MN.  In 1983, GTA merged with North Pacific Grain Growers to form Harvest States Cooperatives.  CHS is born out of 1998 merger of Cenex and Harvest States Cooperative.
