SOIL | Lots of good advise here, but whatever you do, pick a brand and stick with it!
For basic Auto Steer, I wouldn't get too worked up about this, but if you ever plan to add section control, prescription rates, other advanced features like AutoPath or whatever to your planter, sprayer side dress unit, strip tiller, combine or others, don't end up in the mess I did a few years ago where I had about one of every brand because it made sense at the time, a good sale, steep discount, friend was selling his and we knew it was good, the mechanic likes a particular color so we bought that tractor, the other neighbor swore by his Precision Planting unit...Anyway, I ended up with one of every brand and it was a mess for sorting out, getting things to work together and trying to help drivers who didn't know what they were doing.
Now I've shaved everything down to work with Deere G4 & G5, and the tillage tractors still have CNH Pro 700. Deere is hands down my preference, but the 700 is good at one thing...driving straight back and forth. | |
