Subject: RE: Considering a switch from Trimble to Ag Leader steering

Jeffersonville, OH
I have both, and sell both, really depends on what a customer is wanting.

The older Trimble, FMX-FM750 type stuff I try to stay completely away from, I just became a Trimble dealer in October...it's just hard to learn when you are more familiar with more modern systems.

The newer GFX, and most of the TMX display is much more modern in it's feel, and there are things I like the way Trimble does it better than I do Ag Leader's InCommand displays...but there are things I like the Ag Leader much better for. I actually prefer the wayline management in the Trimble, but if I could get folks to manage the names of the Ag Leader lines that wouldn't be bad also. The Smart Path in the Ag Leader is silly simple, but the way Trimble changes the paths for different implements more automatically I also like.

As far as the headland guidance on the Ag Leader, it works VERY well, but I don't know any special feature to do square corners. I don't know anyone doing that in our area, either, so it may be there, just not a function I get asked for. I'm not an Ag Leader dealer, but I work with a couple local dealers depending on where my customers are located. I do the Trimble in house after the AGCO buyout.

I've been around Topcon, Raven, AGCO factory installs, Ag Leader, Trimble, Deere, CNH factory installs, and a few smaller autosteer offerings, and I far prefer Trimble or Ag Leader to the rest, though the AGCO and Deere factory options are fairly simple if that's all you use regularly. The Deere displays just seem more busy for simple guidance operations, same as what I feel about CNH with all the different run screens...but I also don't spend a ton of time in either of those systems to get really familiar. That makes a difference.
