I rented a farm the previous tenant had thrown some vetch out in the non farmed brome areas. It was thrown out ( not tilled in, just thrown on top) around 1980.
The soil was very light so didn't grow much but had brome on it.
His idea was he got some protein when he grazed it in fall and winter.
I never did anything with it and for many years the patches got bigger.
For some reason the last few years it has completely disappeared.
