Lone Wolf Ok | Great to see your responses - most of you obviously get 'rain' -- LOL
We get 24" annually and sometimes only 1-2" during growing season.
We shoot for 25-45 bu/ac (Blow Sand to Clay Loam) -- Apply in -furrow 'mix' with seed and top dress with urea. Have only sprayed fungicide once in our history (last year) and won't do it again.
Have tried Milo several times - one success year - milo got 10' rain at one time and grew nicely -- made 35-40 bu - next year made 2-5 bu/ac -- cotton feast or famine as well - for 2 yrs the area made 2.5 bales/acre (of course we didn't have any) and drought since - with most cotton shredded.
Corn - LOL - Neighbors have attempted dryland and generally make 30 (goal was 50) and the aflatoxins meant dump on ground.
Tried Seaseame -- Worm from Mexico arrived and overnight destroyed everything -- not just us - everything for surrounding counties.
Canola - ground must be 'clean' and just like alfalfa ground in September - we get 50+mph wind in Sept/Oct - we would become dust bowl days again. LOL
Soybeans - some have attempted - most have burned up in our summer heat
We have attempted double crop with mung beans - very little production and lots of weed pressure that we are still fighting years later
Wheat is/has been our 'crop' | |
