Subject: RE: Letting hairy vetch reseed itself

NW IL, Mercer County
I have a little awkward corner in a field that I would run over more crop than I would harvest. Waterhemp would fill in all the tracks. I cut wheat off it in summer of 2023 and had hairy vetch in my summer cover crop mix. I left whatever survived the winter grow all this year. The hairy vetch pretty well smothered everything out, including the waterhemp. I would say that you can let it go without incorporating the re-seeding.
