| I'm no soil scientist, and I am not an expert on sodic soils. However, here are my thoughts/ questions.... You are wanting to overapply calcium (lime) to get the calcium to adhere to the soil colloid, and kick off the sodium. I presume that is your rationale. However, if you have a high water table, and you kick the sodium off the soil colloid, where does the sodium go? Is it going to just sit there? I'm thinking you need water to percolate down thru the soil profile, and take the sodium along with it. However, if you have a high water table, that isn't going to happen...or is it? What am I missing? |
