Northern IL
Over 10 years ago we put in our own base station running 450MHZ with an FCC license (easy to get, even on renewal now) It has worked flawlessly for us. We currently use the RTK corrections in 4 units. Have never paid a fee other than the initial setup cost for each new machine. Usually unless a new version, we just move the RTK receiver and the radio over to a new unit. It has paid for itself a few times over at this point. If you farm within 15 air miles of a central base it is the most economical and dependable solution but does entail some initial planning and preparation. There is not a cut in it for dealers unless they provided their own correction bases. Around here most of them are going by the way side. Most were 900MHZ ones that had a very limited range.
