Have alw ays wondered why a 1086 ih will start right up in the cold an a 4430 wont start unless it's 70 degrees without being plugged in.Can somebody explain that.I have both.Rediculous.
From what I recall, fuel delivery design. On Deere they basically pin the rack open until conditions kick it back, thus the big rev up, where IH has a "start stage" where once it gets oil pressure it kicks it into "run". So if you have an IH that won't start and you've been cranking a while, stop and wait a half hour or so for the pump to reset, as it probably won't start in "run" mode.
That's the basic explanation I remember from a long half hour explanation I got from someone who was a mechanic and trained on the 20/30/40/50 Deere's and 66/86/88 IH tractors. |
