New Kinze planters cost more than red ones if you want any type of technology. We went from a 3605 to a 2150S. A bit of a learning curve but after that we are very happy.

curious difference?

16/31 3665 loaded up less money than same 2150S sitting next to it on local lot

$255K for new Kinze all the bells and whistles. Red one was in the $3's

I think they may have changed their ordering at Kinze since but when we ordered 2 years ago we just wanted bean planter only. No trash wheels but we wanted something other than ground drive and pneumatic downpressure. The 3605 could be ordered with hydraulic drive but you still have all the chains , shafts and bearings. The 3605 could be set up with pneumatic DP fairly easily. If we went to the 3665 you got electric drive but you had to take hydraulic DP which we didn't feel was needed. Had we been able to get a 3665 with pneumatic DP and electric drive we would have preferred that option. So the 2150S with pneumatic as about the only option was about 50k under the 3665 which had more options than we needed. The 2150S is heavier framed and is sure nice to pull down the road at 25mph if conditions allow. Plus with red tractors we eliminated a monitor so the decision became pretty obvious. Like I said I think they may have changed how you can order a 3665. Even if you could I probably would not consider a 3665 going forward. The 2150 is designed for high speeds including the frame where the 3665 is basically a 3660 with high speed meters. If I wanted a bare bones bean planter I would definitely go back to a 3605 without a doubt.
