The thing is there is a reasonable and responsible way to make some big cuts. Whether or not that’s what happens tbd. Some thoughts of mine. On the farm side eliminate arc/plc programs as they seem to be useless. Most if not all crp should be done away with, no reason for US taxpayer to subsidize landowners for owning crap land. Keep a basic crop insurance program but simplify it: no more optional units, enterprise whole farm only, no prevent plant or replant.
On other things: postal service should go to delivery only 3 days a week in rural areas, can still stop at every post office daily. Lots of time and miles wasted. It’s 2024 most business is done online and through ups or fedex.
Social security needs reformed to increase age and limit benefits for high wage earners. It was never designed to be a retirement program for everyone, it was a safety net and a way to scrape by for those without means. Yes it’s a form of socialism and yes you won’t get back what you paid in but we aren’t the type of society to “let people starve”
Our entire healthcare needs reformed. I don’t know how, all Obamacare did was increase cost by subsidizing the industry, more less gave them a blank check.
All DEI fired day 1 and any agencies associated with it.
I really think we could cut 25% of the Gov without even noticing it, and 50% with mostly small sacrifices……but it’s not going to happen without hand wringing and crying foul by the masses…..today is a good example.

Your plan sounds good on paper….but it isn’t very well thought through….you must be young.

JTN, you're kind of an ass, would you talk like that in person, or just on a keyboard?

Ouch;) On Deeres social Security Reform (raise the age limit) they have, full retirement is 67 now, and probably rising…Deeres (limit the benefits for high wage earners) Does he realize high wage earners (up to $168600 taxable this year)are taxed (15% self employed)like everybody else and it’s (their monies they were forced TAXED to pay in that they might or might not live long enough to recoup?
I’ve been forced to pay social security for 43 years, they have a lot of (my) money,if I could cash it out in one lump some I would.
