Guelph, Ontario | I am needing an 8 row corn head for a "new to me" combine, for next fall. I presently have a 693 with knife rolls, freshly rebuilt, that I am quite happy with. Any 893's that are available (that I have seen) have considerably more acres through them then mine. Last week I happened across a 493 that had almost no wear on it. I bought it for not much more then what the transmissions are worth. So... Now the question... Do I buy one of these worn out 893's for the frame or do I weld/blend my 6 and 8 frames together? I know the issue is getting the bottom tube dead true so the drive shaft will slide through the transmissions. I have also come across a 843 frame but I don't know how much different the 9 and 4 series are.
Looking for feed back, Thanks. John |
