Subject: RE: Farm semi plates, title, DOT

NE OK
In Oklahoma I was told by the DOT officer, that not for hire hauling of our own produced grain requires a DOT number, but no UCR. We are registered as Intrastate (not leaving Oklahoma) only.

I would suggest that you contact your Dot people and make sure to start with the info that you're a farmer, and not working for hire.

We haul for both our LLCs Insure through the LLC. On the insurance the second LLC as well as all members names as additional insured, as well as landlord. Money doesn't change entities for the hauling of grain between entities.

It's a complicated and not practical idea to be "not for hire" or only hauling your own grain in a crop share or partnership situation. I suggest you take a logical approach at following the regulations as best you can and make sure your drivers don't speed and all your lights work.
