| I’ve got a group of bred heifers, due Feb 15, that have been out grazing cover crop for about a month now with protein tubs & mineral.
Seems like there’s still lots to eat, but as the weather is getting colder and we are getting closer to calving I want to make extra sure they are getting enough.
I think they are looking good, there’s definitely not a rib in sight but sometimes I think they could look more full. But I am not an expert by any means, and this is my first attempt at winter grazing, so wanted to get some second opinions. How do they look condition wise? Start feeding hay or keep grazing?
As a test, a week or so ago I unrolled a bale for them, they took a couple bites and went back to grazing. 75% of the bale is still laying there…
