The thing is, I know several people younger than myself that had "help" buying their first pickup, or vehicle. Many of them seem to be doing OK financially and morally 50+ years later.

I mostly drove the farm pickup until I was 18 and bought a car. Most things I attended were in the pickup, with a hand-pump fuel barrel in the back that spattered diesel all over the rear window going down the road. As a side note.....305 & 351 GM V-6s didn't win many races.
