You part time farmers crack me up. And that's what you are, part-time. The only reason you guys can even consider yourselves farmers is because of the B.S. basis you guys get. Try and farm with a -.50 or -.90 basis, see how long you last with your 400 acres. Of course you can farm when you AND the wife can get a $80k a year job 50 miles away. There's about 50 (maybe) of those total in a 3 county area here.
Oh, and almost forgot. How many acres did Dad and Mom get free and clear for you to start with? Sorry for being contentious, but I get irritated when townies start getting high and mighty towards guys that solely farm. |
