Pittsburg, Kansas | One other thing is a person has to "adjust" the glasses once they arrive, which a local person normally does that for you when you pick up the glasses. I have had both good and bad luck in that respect. Local people that knew what they were doing and did it well and some that I would have just as soon did it myself.
For example I use titanium aviation type frames so they have nose rest peices. Small needle nose pliers and these can be adjusted by me pretty easily for proper fit. But if a person is 99 years old and can't handle needle nose pliers nor can they see the pads to adjust them, might be better off with a local eyeglass place.
Same goes for side pieces. They come to you going straight back. That may be ok for inactive people but I need them to wrap around my ear to stay on in difficult positions and sweaty face. We have an "instanthot" water heater with a seperate faucet for hot water at our sink. It is "really hot coffee" hot. Too hot to drink. It is the right heat to heat up the ear pieces and bend them to fit my face and that is how I do it. But it does take a certain amount of skill to get it right. I use an old pair of glasses that fit well to get the process started with where to start the bend. Not a big deal but may not be ideal for some people without the capability. Fixing stuff on the farm for 60 years I feel I am qualified for such construction and have no problem with it. Someone else might have different less successful results.
