Pittsburg, Kansas | I don't know if it is a cure. I don't claim it to be. But my diabetic feet had really ugly looking toe nails on my big toes. I have seen people with toe fungus and it kind of looked like that. Never had it doctor check it out so don't know for sure. Part of toenail detached.
My wife put a liberal amount of tincture of iodine on them as I was laying with my feet off the bed so the iodine from the little application plastic thingy would run down around my toenail edges and under the toe nail.
She did this for probably six months 5 or 6 nights a week (mostly because we would forget it some nights). They both look lots better for the last couple of years (been quite a while back she did it - will still do it on rare occasion just as a prevent but maybe once or twice a month). Don't know if it was the alocohol or iodine in the solution. Don't know if maybe just iodine deficient. But at any rate, over a long period of time, they seemed to get better. Of course I changed diet six years ago so that could have had an effect also as my blood sugar control got better.
So not sure if it would be helpful in your situation but I can fully say it didn't kill me. It is just the kind of iodine you get at a place like CVS to dab on a minor cut or scrape.
I would always lay there for a few minutes for it to dry. To not get the iodine stain all over the bed sheets.
Edit - you will have pretty toes! Well, pretty is in the eye of the beholder I guess :-). Probably do not want to do it if flip flops are your main public shoe selection.
