Here ground stays damp underneath windrow. We need to rake and move it on dry ground. I agree with lumps in windrow and areas where windrower turned around flattening the windrow. Last Oct neighbor had a very large field 4th down for a long time. Don't think he raked it to let it dry for a day or 2. Early January his 3th started on fire. He said he was probing it to see if was heating, thought not . Don't know if he checked upper layers. Ist and 2nd cuts were fine. There were about 4 wheel loaders, me to, moving the smoldering hay away and moving the other cuttings away from the fire.
