where's the pressure switch then? Or put a gauge on some fittings on the hydrant, and watch the pressure variation with no water running from the hydrant for a while. You might tell just from putting your ear to the hydrant pipe if the pump is running, with the pressure gauge it should be obvious if it's shutting off or not.
