I've only used fiber at my place, mostly because I don't know enough about it, but where I've buried it I used pre-terminated single mode I ordered from Lanshack.  I put it in a 1 inch pipe that i had bored from my house to shop.  It was not the cheap option but the easiest to do.  For what the pre-terminated cable costs I have no need to learn how to splice it or terminate it.
