Bit of a hijack of the thread. I find it fascinating that a .223 isn't enough round for deer hunting, but it's been the standard round (in 5.56 form) for people hunting by our military for 60 years.

There is more to the story. One big item is that a grunt can carry a bunch more 5.56 than 308 or 30-06 on his person. Another is that wounded adversaries take more personnel to care for than dead ones, if your enemy values their wounded. |
