Northern Nebraska		You seem to be confused. When asking Google if you can eat a hydrocarbon it assumes you mean gasoline. And tells you not to do so.

Mineral oil is a hydrocarbon. It has been used safely for food and medical purposes since the days of ancient Egypt.
