W Texas | Want to add I'll graze sheep or cows on alfalfa after its dormant and dry. Will graze sheep during the hot summer when hay is rank and low leaf to stem ratio.
I wont graze anything on alfalfa in the fall around first frost or in the spring around last frost. I'm also very careful about feeding first cutting hay that has been frosted -- that stuff needs to go through a "sweat" of 45 days in the bale stack before it's safe. | |
