Pretty sure the automotive energy market knows what cost consumers will bear.  Price the electricity relative to fuel and EV drivers will pay it because they need to fuel on the road and don't mind paying more on the road knowing it is costing them similar to an ICE owner, but they enjoy huge saving while not on long distance trips that more than cover the higher cost of the vehicle.
