Late to comment on this one , my wife suffered severe injuries
10 years ago that are coming back to debilitate her and limit our activities in retirement, and yes she rode her whole life and part of our rural culture ,but it takes only once to change lifes out come for the rest of one's life .
Sorry to hear this. Seen this happen with someone else I thought a lot of.
I was without much words for a while. Hit pretty hard. Was kind of in shock over the unexpected ending.
After having a conversation in person with someone, a day or two earlier, thinking I would see him again soon. He had sustained injuries from a fall off a horse previously on his own ranch. Grew up farming and ranching. The fall resulted in lengthy care away from his home. It initially didn't look like he would pull through but he did. Much to the surprise of others. He had recovered enough to make the trip back to one of his prized places and was able to have breakfast with friends and enjoy looking at horses.
Got a phone call saying he was deceased. That was hard to believe. I'm still thankful he got to see his properties one last time he and his wife had worked so hard to purchase. And I got to visit with him one last time. You just expect or hope things will continue as they have for at least a while longer. Doesn't always work that way. Life.
