Realistically his corn is 60 and soy is 56.


That is exactly how it works, OP said 40,000 bushels of corn. 40,000 bushels of corn weighs 2,240,000 lbs every time. TW means nothing in this scenario.

Another way to think about it. OP hauls to town 2,240,000 lbs of corn. How many bushels did he sell?



I agree with you but there is a constraint with the size of the bin. He never would have been able to put that many pounds in it with 56 lb corn. He says 40k of 60lb corn so you have to first find the weight of the same volume of 56 lb corn to convert it to the to standard soybeans. To be really exact we need his sb test weight. The confined amount of space is the problem. He didnt say a 40k sized bin, he said a bin he gets 40k of 60lb corn in.
