Southeast Colorado | My Mom's brother moved up many ranks in the Navy pulling people out of Vietnam with his helicopter. Once when he was co-pilot, the pilot right beside him was shot and died. Instant elevation in rank there.
He's still alive..........84 years old now. He's sort of lost his mind, but still can tell some good old war stories.
EDIT: One other really cool thing about him...........He was part of the failed attempt at pulling the Iran hostages out way back in the day.
