here is my take Grain bins primary function is to speed up the harvest process period.
Grain Bins make too many operators lazy marketers, IE the grain goes in and nothing much is done except for times when cash is needed and in August when you realize that you need to make room for the next crop that is just 45-60 days away. There are exceptions of course but its what I have observed for over 40 years
What part of Illinois are you from? I have 7 commercial grain facilities within 20 minutes. Most days they can dump a truck faster than I can. That said I look at bins as a way to add more to my sale price/ save money on commercial storage but it’s not easier or quicker |
