Pittsburg, Kansas

Wow. 90. Must be doing something right!

I got one of those helicopter rides when I had my deer/motorcycle accident (but I don't remember it). Local hospital told my wife they can handle brain trauma and they can handle lung trauma, but they were not equipped to handle both at once. So I got a ride to a bigger hospital. Funny thing is (it was expensive) when I was going over the paperwork a few weeks later the insurance had denied the medivac bill. But then just a day or so later they approved and paid it. Don't know what that was about but it was all taken care of before I knew anything about it. I forget how much it was but some unbelievable amount.

What actually ended up costing me some was my crazy little finger. All those broken ribs, but nothing else broken but my little finger on my left hand. That little sucker needed pinned and that bill was around 20 grand by the time it was done. Since it was a specialist and where I went happened to be out of network I think I ended up with six or eight hundred dollars total. Other than my amount owed on the hospital stay room charges, that was the biggest expense I had to pay in the whole deal. Including my lungs getting drained three times as an outpatient (in network).

I survived it. The deer didn't (nor the brand new motorcycle that I was taking for a test ride - my vehicle insurance got to buy it).
