Scranton | So after a fun day of looking at options, this is what we found.
Abilene machine has a rebuilt for $12,700 with good core.
Boot heel in Missouri sells the same short block as JD for I think $23,000? Not sure on that figure, but I think $5000 off for good core.
John Deere, what I would call a Long block installed, 2 year warranty...A BIIIGGGG number...
John Deere, short block, installed by my own mechanic with a 1 year warranty, $20,000. New injectors adds $3k ish. New Turbo another $1000. Everything moved over to new motor. $5,000 back on core if its still good. Hoping to net net under $30,000. Kinda hoping under $25,000. Its not like we don't have money burning a hole in our pockets with the high prices and cheap inputs.
My personal opinion is I wish Deere...never mind.
