They’re not that hard. Need a book with some good drawings. I’ve actually got a couple I need to do on a 4955. They don’t just leak off, I have one that creeps from a pressure leak.
Basically 4 spring closed poppet valves operated by two cams. Two poppets are required for A and two are required for B. Pressure and return for each. Have to adjust the valve clearances so the open and close are synchronized together.
I was looking for a set of stones to resurface the seats in the valve casting but last year I could only find the coarse one, fine was unavailable anywhere. I’ve never seen one that needed the coarse stone, so I was trying to wait until I found the fine before tackling that job. Now it’s been a year and I’ve just been living with it.
Living with it can mean you have to have a lever that works the machine opposite to how you would normally do it. Leaking pressure into a no-til drill in DOWN is a good thing, hooking it up so it leaks UP is bad unless you hook up a rubber strap to hold it in DOWN! I opted for the rubber strap to keep it up for transport.
Need to see if I can find that stone now.
