I agree the long/long are better but dad refuses to buy them.  The long/short will go in without removing a guard most of the time and that's a hill he's willing to die on.  Anytime I get a chance I buy long/long and if nothing else use them when rebuilding an entire blade.  The long/short do cut fine for us but we don't get the green stemmed tough cutting others do.
