Jeffersonville, OH | Sounds like they're all kinda scary...6.8, 9.0, and 13.5L all have some pretty major horror stories....and from what I read on here some pretty steep repair bills.
Now, before I get flamed...Yes, they should have more failures since there are more out...but by that same thinking they should be the most reasonable to repair since they build more parts...
For an in season combine engine repair, finding a replacement engine quickly, or renting a combine is the best solution. Overpaying for a repair may be the same as renting a combine when it's all said and done.
I had a customer lose a Cummins last season and we rented him a combine so that we could overhaul it in the winter without expediting a lot of parts. Got his crop out faster, and paid roughly the same as what an expedited repair would have cost him. In my opinion at least....I don't play with the Green stuff though.
