SW OH | If you go with after market filters, check the length compared to new OEM. My first experience with these now popular cartridge filters were on 6.0Ls in Fords. When they first came out Ford was the only place you could get them for $80 I think. Then NAPA started selling them for maybe $25. Ford sued NAPA for copyright enfringement. So NAPA started making them just a little bit shorter in length. There is a plunger drain valve in the bottom of the cannister. The shorter filter will not close that valve. The company lost 2 engines due to loss of oil flow. The oil was going back to the pan because the valve was not shut all the way. If the filter is not the correct length, it causes problems.
