Subject: RE: Anyone have any success with cover crops?

West Salem, Illinois
The corn came in very well (emergence), but I did not run enough nitrogen on it. If I would run this same system I wondered about running 28 or 32 as the carrier on the first pass of herbicide across the field.

The pictures were the first time I did any covers, I'm wanting to try rape ahead of corn this year. My rotation has been corn followed by wheat, double crop beans and back. I'm also shying away from the rye because I had quite a bit of volunteer rye in the wheat. I was hoping to get some ideas of other things to use, I did try crimson clover in standing beans and wasn't real satisfied with the stand I got.
