…the guy hanging from the copter had to sign a clause that in an emergency the pilot can cut him free to save the helicopter. I thought that was a terrible idea. How in the world could that pilot ever live with himself if that were to happen. It’s probably a requirement by the insurance company and I doubt a pilot would actually do it.

It might seem cold, but if the pilot has to choose between one guy probably dying and everyone fairly certainly dying, he’s going to choose the one. As the paper states, that’s the deal when you sign up.
