Subject: RE: Fm radio antenna help on Jd combine

Holly Hill, SC
I am no expert but have had tons of problems with my low band radios on my farm. On my Case 6150 if I keyed the mic it would shut the engine off. Other radios had no range. Finally learned that I needed to properly test each antenna for each machine/ radio. I bought a cheap used SWR meter for my frequency range from Ebay ($20) and it has been a game changer. Watch some you tube videos on how to use one. It is the same for CB radios. I found out I had bad wires in the spring of the antenna, bad ground at a toolbox mount, bad tabs under the antenna, bad cab mount from factory (fiber glass roof on Case Combine, (John Deere roof has been OK)) etc. Learned 90% of my problems has something to do with the antenna wire, base or antenna. I use about 20 Motorola radios from 40 to 110 watts on my farm. Would not want to farm without them.
