Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa | Jbatmick - 10/7/2024 16:41 Latest on Milton, hitting Tampa area head on, current sustained winds of 180, gusts to 220 per National Hurricane Center.Wednesday landfall on West coast of Florida, expected to diminish slightly. Many folks evacuating, some roads jammed. My area, north of there, says about 8 inches ( already very wet ) of rain, winds will only be about 75 mph for couple hours. Biggest threat is storm surge, rising water in rivers and beach. Many homes and stores built on edge of water. Looks bad for some areas. Now saying possibly strongest ever on record for wind speed.
My cousin in Clearwater is standing pat for now. She said last nite that roads were jammed. If Milton changes course, they have a place that they can go w/o too much road travel. Prayers continue for all who are impacted in all this mess. |
