Wyoming | Couple days ago spotted a helicopter just a half mile or so north of the shop. I originally thought it was coming in for water, it was a red helicopter with something attached on the end of a cable. Made no sense though because the Elk Fire is so far away with many water sources between here and there so me and grandpa drove up to see what was going on. Turns out that it was moving people on the highline from one pole to the next, it was very cool to watch. They were installing pullies. Today they pulled a line through and again used the helicopter to lift people to attach the line. One guy working on it today said it was optic cable.
Turns out I wasn't alone in my original thoughts of it being used for the fire, someone near said they saw it near the sewage treatment ponds and thought the same thing.
I sure have never seen anything like it. That would be one cool job. And expensive too I'd imagine.
